The wedge espadrille is one of those rare shoes that manages to be both elegant and genuinely comfortable. A little extra height, a stable base, and that unmistakable jute-wrapped sole — it’s the kind of shoe that elevates a summer outfit without making you think twice about how far you’re walking. At Natural World Eco, our women’s wedge espadrilles bring the same commitment to natural materials and responsible production that runs through our entire collection.
Wedges offer something stilettos and block heels simply can’t: a continuous sole that distributes your weight evenly across the foot. That means less strain on the ball of the foot, better balance on uneven surfaces, and the kind of all-day comfort that makes wedge espadrilles a genuinely practical choice — not just a stylish one. Pair that with a natural jute sole and breathable canvas upper, and you have a warm-weather shoe that works as hard as it looks good.
Like all Natural World Eco footwear, our wedge espadrilles are produced to the standards of the Green Trade World certification — an independent guarantee that no harmful substances are used at any point in the manufacturing process, from raw materials to finished shoe.
The jute used in our wedge soles is a naturally sustainable fibre: fast-growing, biodegradable, and cultivated without pesticides or excessive water. Selected styles feature GOTS-certified organic cotton uppers — check individual product pages for full material and certification details. Many styles also carry PETA-Approved Vegan certification; look for the vegan label on each product page or browse our vegan women’s footwear section.
Wedge espadrilles sit at a natural crossroads between casual and smart — which makes them one of the most useful shoes in a summer wardrobe. Wear canvas styles with a linen midi dress and a basket bag for a relaxed, put-together daytime look. Lace-up styles pair beautifully with wide-leg trousers and a tucked-in blouse for summer evenings. Printed styles work best kept as the hero piece — build the rest of your outfit around them and keep everything else simple.
Our wedge espadrilles are sized in European sizing — refer to our size guide for a full UK-to-EU conversion. Natural fibre styles can feel slightly narrower than synthetic alternatives, so if you’re between sizes, we recommend sizing up for the most comfortable fit.
Yes — the wedge sole distributes weight more evenly than a heel, reducing pressure on the ball of the foot. Combined with a breathable canvas upper, our wedge espadrilles are well suited to long summer days. That said, comfort is personal: if you’re not used to wearing a heel of any kind, start with shorter outings and build up gradually.
Jute soles are natural and absorbent — prolonged exposure to water can soften and distort the sole over time. We recommend keeping wedge espadrilles for dry weather. If caught in a light shower, allow them to dry naturally away from direct heat. For wetter days, our rubber-soled canvas trainers are a more weather-resistant option.
Many styles carry PETA-Approved Vegan certification, but not all. Always check the individual product page for certification details, or filter by vegan in our vegan women’s footwear section.
Spot clean canvas uppers with a damp cloth and mild soap — avoid machine washing or submerging jute-soled styles. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve the colour and shape of both the upper and the jute sole.
